To say we stunk would be to do a disservice to things that smell badly [jk ;)] These guys were hitting on all cylinders and we were a little tentative and, well, you can see the result in the box score. What the box score does not show, however, is the fact that their entire infield was taller then our tallest guy. Nor does it show how a new team in the league this year (subject to the new 6th grade restrictions) can produce a team like this. Does anyone else find it suspicious that all this league's directors are from Mequon or that, for the first time ever, the results of this game were posted on the league web site just minutes after the game ended? Or is that just me being paranoid? Oh well, we'll take our beating like men and move on. On a positive note, Serbiak and Graf looked great in relief and our offense showed signs of life at the end of the game. Hey, who knows, we may see these guys again.

These guys hung in there pretty well with good pitching and defense and some timely hitting. Though, once our offense got untracked we made short shrift of matters (because you definitely don't want to be making long shrift in these situations). Sandy started and worked 2 good innings and then we went with Zimmerman and Serbiak who each threw well for an inning. Barnes worked the 5th and accomplished a rare feat when he struck out the side on 9 pitches in the 6th! Once again, Graf closed out the game with a strong inning in relief. On offense, Horneffer performed another exceedingly rare feat by hitting for the cycle (a Single, Double, Triple and Home Run)! Although, we're all pretty sure he could've made it to second on that last hit. Graf also turned in an excellent performance on offense; going 3 for 4 with 3 rbi, a run scored and 3 stolen bases.

Perhaps it was knowing that sweeping both ends of this doubleheader would bring us the championship, or maybe it was that we secretly wanted to make sure that our game next week against the Bulldogs was "meaningful." Whatever it was, this game was a "carpenter's dream" as we came out flat as a board. Barnes, Sandy, Graf and Zimmerman went 2 for 3 and Serbiak put out the fire in relief in the 4th.

Nice recovery! They roughed us up in the first and then Graf (Hold), Serbiak (4 Innings) and Sandy (Save) shut them down; making our final game ever at the Rainbow one worth remembering. Very nice spread after the game, Ladies. Look out Harvey Kuenn Field; here we come!

On a scorching, humid evening the Eagles, who showed up a few minutes before the first pitch, started slow and finished well. Pewaukee, on the other hand, who were at the field at least 90 minutes before the game started, began the game on fire, but fizzled out at the end. There's a lesson in there somewhere. Carnell went 3 for 3 and scored 4 runs. Barnes, who struggled early, righted the ship and made it through 4 innings on the mound, and Zimmerman threw a scoreless 5th inning.

Another beautiful contest on a hot July night until we stumbled late. Sandy worked a solid 4 innings on the mound, but we couldn't hold them off after that and we left the field with the division title still up for grabs.

Outstanding play between friends with something to prove. Serbiak was untouchable through four and had the game winning (our only) hit against his old teammates. One could not have scripted a better season ending victory in which we salted away another division championship! The Bulldogs acquitted themselves well and it is truly a shame that anybody had to lose this game.

Hard-fought battle to begin our final tournament of the season in New Berlin. They tied us up before Zimmerman came on in the 5th to put out the fire. We took back the lead on rbi singles by Zimmerman and Andrae in the bottom of the 5th and Werchowski, painting the corners with his off-speed stuff in the final frame, got the win. The newest Eagle, Eli Foth went two for two, scoring twice and knocking in a run.

A rare easy win in a tournament. Graf started and picked up the win and Zimmerman looked strong in relief. Sandy had a triple and a home run and Horneffer went 3 for 3 with a couple of rbi.

Nice win against a group of big kids almost all of whom appeared to need a shave. Sandy got the win with another nice start while Foth pitched 2 innings and Zimmerman threw a scoreless final frame. Horneffer picked up 3 more hits and Sandy, Foth and Carnell each added 2.

Had 'em beat (Up 9-2 after 3), but we gave it back. Nice fight against the most unsportsmanlike team I've ever seen. See you next year, boys!
